I-70
Washington Avenue Bridge
Washington Avenue Bridge - This project is located on I-70 at Exit 2-B (Washington Avenue) in Wheeling, West Virginia. The work consists of grading, drainage, paving, signing, pavement markings, traffic signals, roadway lighting, and bridge widening. Traffic will be restricted and detoured during the various phases of this work. Beginning February 4, 2008 traffic on I-70 will be restricted to one lane in both the east and west bound lanes. The exits and entrances from and to I-70 will remain open. The contractor is currently placing the new bridge beams, abutments, and constructing new ramps. Note: I-70 lane closures will take place on Monday and Tuesday, July 14th & 15th. Motorists are advised to be aware and follow the designated traffic patterns. Work will also begin on Washington Avenue on the north side of the Bridge; two lane traffic will be maintained in this area on Mt. DeChantal Road. The contract was awarded to Ohio-West Virginia Excavating of Powhatan Point, Ohio at a cost of $5,794,757.26. The planned completion date is September 15, 2009. US 30HancockJennings Randolph Bridge - This bridge improvement project is located over the Ohio River between Chester, West Virginia and East Liverpool, Ohio. The work consists of removing the existing bridge surface and replacing it with a modified concrete overlay. Traffic will be maintained at all times with lane restrictions in effect. Currently the contractor is grinding and removing the existing bridge deck. The project is 70% complete. The contract was awarded to The Velotta Company of Sharon Center, Ohio at a cost of $507,521.00. The planned completion date is September 12, 2008. Until September 12, 2008C
US 40OhioUS 40 Drainage System - This drainage project is located on US 40 (National Road) in Triadelphia, WV at Mile Post 4.45. This also includes drainage work on Welty Drive. The work consists of drainage improvements. Traffic will be limited to one lane at times throughout the project. Expect little or no delays. The contract was awarded to Savage Construction of Wheeling, WV at a cost of $279,469.00. The contractor is currently working on the drainage pipes and structures. Completion of this project is expected in late August, 2008. The project is 98% complete.Until late August 2008C

Rabbit Hill Road Pipe Replacement - This project is located on County Route 18 in Brooke County and in Wellsburg, West Virginia.  The work consists of removing the existing box culvert and replacing it with a new culvert.  County Route 18 will be closed to all traffic in this area and motorists are advised to use alternate routes (County Routes 7 & 18/1 and WV 27).  The contractor is currently removing the existing culvert.  The project is 5% complete.  The contract was awarded to The James White Construction Company of Weirton, WV at a cost of $278,231.00.  The planned completion date is October 31, 2008.

WV 2New Cumberland Signal Renovation - This signal project is located on WV 2 in the City of New Cumberland, WV, at the intersection of WV 2 and Chester Street. The work consists of removing the old traffic signal and replacing it with a new signal. The contractor has completed the signal installation and is currently working on punch list items. Traffic will be maintained at all times, expect no delays. The contract was awarded to Eight Treasures of Kentucky, LLC of Catlettsburg, Kentucky at a cost of $90,000.00. The project is 99% complete.07/28/2008C
CR 105/1Penco Road - This roadway improvement project is located in Weirton, WV on County Route 105/1 Hancock County. The work consists of grading, drainage, paving, signing, pavement markings and waterline relocation. Traffic will be maintained at all times, however, expect lane restrictions and minor delays. The contractor is currently placing pipe in the middle turning lane. The project is currently 50% complete. The contact was awarded to Ohio West Virginia Excavating of Powhatan Point, Ohio at a cost of $1,293,720.80. The planned completion date is September 30, 2008.Until September 30, 2008C

CR 15North Fork Bridge - This bridge project is located on County Route 15 in Wetzel County over the North Fork of Fishing Creek in the Town of Pine Grove. The work consists of removing and replacing the existing bridge. Traffic will be detoured onto a temporary bridge until the new bridge is erected. Expect little or no delays. The contractor has completed the new bridge and it is now open to traffic, currently the contractor is removing the old bridge structure. The contract was awarded to Ohio-West Virginia Excavating of Powhatan Point, Ohio at a cost of $1,206,363.25. The planned completion date is April 30, 2009. The project is currently 99% complete. WV 20 Reader Creek Bridge - This bridge project is located on WV 20 over Reader Creek in Wetzel County.  The work consists of grading, drainage, paving, signing, pavement markings, waterline relocation, removing the old bridge structure and building the new bridge.  Traffic will be maintained on a temporary detour and a traffic signal has been installed next to the existing bridge.  The contractor is currently placing culverts and select fill material on lifts on the bridge approaches.  The contract was awarded to SMH Construction of Beckley, WV at a cost of $972,446.73.  The planned completion date is May 29, 2009.  The project is 42% complete.The planned completion date is May 29, 2009.C
